FEATURES OF THE INVESTIGATIVE EXAMINATION OF A FI REARMS

Abstract

The article is devoted to the study of the features of the investigative examination of fi rearms, tactics and stages of conducting a fi rearm examination. An investigative examination of fi rearms is carried out in compliance with the procedural provisions of the examination and involves the study and recording of the main features of the discovered fi rearm, its position and traces of use. The effectiveness and completeness of the examination of firearms depends on the experience and qualifications of the investigator, his understanding of the tasks, stages and tactical techniques of conducting an investigative examination, the ability to navigate the mechanism of trace formation and traces of use of firearms, awareness of the constructive properties and structure of various types of firearms, the ability to procedurally competently record evidentiary information.The tactics of conducting an investigative examination significantly affect the achievement of the goal and objectives of this investigative (detective) action, compliance with the procedural rules of conducting an examination, the accuracy and correctness of the display of the discovered evidence contributes to their admissibility and the further prospect of sending criminal proceedings to court.The investigative examination of firearms involves three stages: inspection, detailed (statistical) and final. The inspection stage involves a visual inspection of the place where the firearm was found, recording its location and position in relation to individual objects, and photo recording. At the detailed (statistical) stage, the weapon is checked for the presence of a cartridge in the chamber, cartridges in the magazine, and is inspected to identify weapon markings or special signs in the form of missing parts, damage, etc. The final stage of the firearm examination involves drawing up a report, packaging and removing the firearm and other items of evidentiary value.
