TRANSFORMATION OF STATE NATIONAL SECURITY POLICY IN THE CONTEXT OF GEOPOLITICAL CHANGES

Abstract

It is established that national security is an integral part of the state and therefore requires reliable protection, as well as internal and external guarantees. At the same time, constant changes in the geopolitical situation in the world and in the European space require a high level of defense, and geopolitical instability, Russia’s armed attack against Ukraine and the transformation of the international security system require amendments and updates to the national security policy. It is determined that Ukraine needs an adaptive strategy that can eff ectively respond to modern threats: information, energy, military. In addition, geopolitical changes force states, including Ukraine, to constantly review approaches to their own security. At the same time, it is important to take into account not only internal factors, but also external ones - international alliances, new threats, technological development.It is established that after 2014, when Ukraine experienced signifi cant changes, there was an urgent need for a deep transformation of the national security and defense sector. At the same time, Russian aggression became a catalyst for large-scale reforms and since then the country has been forced to constantly adapt to new challenges.This became especially noticeable after the full-scale invasion in 2022. In this study, the author focuses on the key geopolitical factors that determine the direction of changes in the security sector. It also traces how security policy has developed step by step: from the first attempts at reform to the formation of new approaches in response to threats that do not disappear, but only become more complex. It separately analyzes how the state is restructuring its security policy - not only formally, but also in practice. Both internal challenges and external pressure are taken into account.Summarizing the results of the study, the author offered several specific ideas that could help in further improving state policy in this area - especially in conditions where the geopolitical situation remains unstable and tense.
