PROSPECTIVE DIRECTIONS FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE STATE NATIONAL SECURITY POLICY OF UKRAINE IN THE MEDIUM-TERM PERSPECTIVE

Abstract

The article considers important issues of the development of the state policy of national security of Ukraine, assessment of its effectiveness, impact of modern geopolitical changes on national interests, as well as promising directions of improvement of the system of national security management ensuring security in the medium term. The relevance of this study is due to the aggravation of geopolitical challenges in the region, the strengthening of threats to the national security of Ukraine, the need to adapt state policy to new external and internal conditions. It is especially important to study the prospects of the medium-term development of national security in the context of Ukraine’s integration into European and global security structures. The purpose of the article is to analyze the current state of state policy in the field of national security of Ukraine and determine the prospects of the mediumterm development of the national security system taking into account internal and external challenges. The study used such methods as system analysis, comparative analysis, expert assessment method, forecasting and modeling of national security development scenarios, as well as methods of analysis of regulatory documents. The article states that Ukrainian legislation creates a regulatory framework for strategic documents, provides a legal framework for military reforms, resource mobilization and Ukraine’s integration into international defense structures. The article indicates that in the medium term, the geopolitical situation in the world will be characterized by an increase in problems in the state and an increase in their complexity, therefore, in the next 5–10 years, the key threats to the state will be hybrid and cyber threats, regional instability, economic pressure, social crises and environmental problems. Promising directions for the development of the state policy of national security in the medium term (5–10 years) are formulated, taking into account the projected geopolitical changes. Recommendations are given for improving the national security management system. The possibilities of Ukraine’s integration into European and world security structures are presented.
