CRIMINOLOGY CHARACTERISTICS OF TRAFFICKING IN HUMAN BEINGS UNDER THE CONDITIONS OF THE STATE OF MARTIAL

Abstract

The US government estimates that approximately 600,000 to 800,000 people worldwide are trafficked for exploitation each year. Exploitation can take place both within and outside the country, and recruiters are often trusted acquaintances. The article analyzes the statistical data of the Office of the General Prosecutor of Ukraine, the National Social Service of Ukraine and international organizations regarding registered crimes provided for in Article 149 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, persons affected by human trafficking, as well as persons who committed the specified crimes. On this basis, provisions regarding the criminological characteristics of human trafficking in martial law conditions were formulated. In particular, they relate to the concept (definition) of human trafficking and the determinants of such crimes in Ukraine, the identity of the criminal and the victim, ways to prevent these crimes. Certain signs have been characterized that may indicate the criminal intentions of certain persons who offer help or work to people in a vulnerable situation, but actually plan to exploit them. The internal and external determinants of human trafficking, general trends in the commission of such crimes under martial law are determined. The measures of general and individual prevention of human trafficking in the conditions of martial law are considered.
